As far as NSW national Park campgrounds go. This is five star. It's situated on a meeting of two rivers, so a valley into two canyons, downriver is colo river across a large distance. The canyon is very dramatic and late sun colour makes it amazing. Morning sun is as late as 10am. The balance of sunlight, open space, shady riverside, amazing landscape. The camp spacing is good for serenity, camp fire circles only, no gas BBQ. Lots of wildlife, you can feel the presence of the great open space beyond into the national Park. We walked downriver an easy trail for an hour to a magic freshwater creek running in then back along the riverside. We also walked to the base of the towering cliffs to a waterfall running out of a fissure on the Northside. Credit to the national parks staff for maintaining a beautiful campground.
Stunning campground set in the valley surrounded by towering craggy rock faces. Grassed sites, well maintained with clean, long drop toilets, and lots of fire-pits available. some tables with a few of the spots as well, and there are a couple of wheelchair accessible campsites too. NP campground so a $6 booking fee only.
A short walk along the Caperttee riverbed will tale you to a lovely deep swimming hole. Lots of kangaroos and goannas roam the campground throughout the day
Couldn't get enough of this campground! Beautiful weather, lots of kangaroos and goannas and we saw some wombats too! Toilets were clean and maintained and the lots of spcae for campers! Definitely will visit again!
It is a beautiful, quiet, and peaceful place with magnificent cliffs deep in the mountains. It was a little uncomfortable because there was no phone signal 30 minutes before going to the destination. It was good that there was a temporary toilet installed. Must see the stars at night.
LONG WEEKEND IS GONE. But the camping reviews are in🌿
- Restrooms: Not bad, clean, toilet paper available, nothing to wash your hands
- Fire pits: Plenty of them but behave and pay attention to the fire bans. Tables available too!
- Space: Pretty big campground, lots of space to find some silence but it gets busy
- Caravans: There's a dump-ezy station
- Wildlife: SO MANY KANGAROOS, I could listen to them chewing grass next to the tent at night, also birds and huge lizards. No wombats this time😞
- Car access: All good, there's about 5km of dirt road but good for 2wd
- Phone: No phone reception (I'm with Vodafone)
- Creek: Low but good for refreshing in this heat
And I got to sing "My heart will go on" with a stranger... Does it get any better than that?
Thank me later, bye
This camp ground is clean, the toilets were clean (and had toilet paper, score). They were long drops but good enough for a secluded camp ground. It was very handy having fire pits already built into the ground. The scenery was absolutely amazing, loved seeing the kangaroos and birds feel comfortable around my self and fellow campers.
Went earlier this week. Stunning scenery! Great facilities. Will definitely come back! Bring your own water tho. Warning ⚠️ spotted a few snakes trying to soak up the sun before hibernating this winter. Couldn't tell if they were red bellies or blue bellies, but try to avoid going off the treks and be careful around the toilet blocks. If you leave them alone then they will leave you alone. Also spotted wombats with mange too. So avoid getting close to them.
Great quite spot with
No reception just wild life and space to camp
Very well set up and not cramped
I do recommend bringing as much water as you can it was quite hot there
Causeway crossing was a bit slippery on two wheels but still accessible
